I NEED YOUR HELP!!!
Dear Supporters:
I have some shocking news!!! I have decided to attempt to run/walk in a marathon. That’s right, this is no joke, a 26.2-mile run/walk to benefit The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I will be one of many participants from Kansas and all around the world training to run/walk at the “Suzuki Rock N’ Roll” Marathon on June 6, 2004 in San Diego, CA. I have joined The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as part of their Team In Training program. I have several coaches, an excellent training program, and a great group of current and past participants for plenty of moral support. The best part of the program is that I will have the opportunity to run/walk and train in honor of two leukemia patients in the Kansas area. My first honoree, Joanne Riedinger, is from Lawrence, KS. Joanne was diagnosed with Follicular Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at the age of 21. She is currently a junior at KU majoring in exercise science and also health and physical education. Most impressive of all, Joanne is currently training for a triathlon in Hawaii!!! My second honor patient is Isabel Paige Grafel of Oberlin, KS. Isabel was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocyctic Leukemia (ALL) last April. She is a very sweet and charming three-year old girl who is so full of life!! Isabel loves to laugh, giggle, swing, slide, and play with her favorite toy in the whole world, her precious dollies. My goal is to raise $5,000 to support The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Leukemia is the number one cause of death in children between the ages of one and fourteen and affects many other lives nationwide. I have learned that the society is dedicated to finding cures for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma. Please help support me in this project by contributing generously to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. 75% of all funds raised will go directly to research. Your contribution will fund the research being done to find the cures for these awful diseases. Training for a marathon will be a challenge. However, this challenge is going to be nothing compared to the challenge Isabel and Joanne have in battling and overcoming these diseases. Please join me in spirit and love by contributing. Whatever you can give will help—it all adds up. Please complete the enclosed pledge form and send it in with your tax-deductible contribution. An addressed return envelope is enclosed for your convenience. All contributions shall be received by April 2, 2004. Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I really appreciate your support, God Bless!!! Keep an eye open for letters updating my progress on the road to 26.2 in San Diego. With greatful appreciation, Aaron Marcum Donor Form YES!
